One Note For All

Today we looked at One Note at our tech coach meeting. I have been using this throughout the year and really like it. We use it in our Chemistry PLC and it helps with organization. For someone who is not organized, it helps me get organized! It is a great teacher centered tech choice. Many times we try to use technology to increase student learning. Sometimes, increasing teacher productivity increases student learning indirectly!

I look forward to using this even more this summer!

Future Gradebook Changes

Yesterday, we had a meeting about the future features we would like in the gradebook. The old list was thrown out due to how long and out of date it was. The question is how large this list will be as well! Also it will be interesting how much of this gets done in the near future. It is interesting how much people want "what they used to have" instead of imagining what they would actually want!

World of Wikicraft

Web 2.0 is a powerful, powerful tool. But as Mike showed us, there are many sites that can do similar tasks. The trouble is in investing in one site while there is a better one out there. That is where I am with Wiki's. I want to jump on one of them, but I want to figure out which is best. I am leaning towards an ad free wetpaint, but we will need to see.

I liked seeing the different options today.

Gradebook Training?!?

Today, I was working with Deb Townsend on the gradebook. We were sucessful on two fronts, but not sucessful on two fronts. The difficulty lies in the fact that it is the District created Gradebook.

Deb had an issue with an assignment not deleting. This is a problem with the software. The nice thing is that since we wrote the program, we can fix it in house. However it is a problem because there are still bugs in the program. If we purchased our own program, there would be less bugs, but we could not solve them ourselves.

Her other issue was not knowing how to enter a dept key. I did not know it either. This is an issue since I am the school's lead gradebook guru, and I did not know.

But this leads to integrating tech into the classroom. To integrate new tech into the classroom teachers need two things. 1. They need to be exposed to the posibilities. 2. But then also they need the drive to do it. This was the case with the dept key. Hopefully we can get it figured out.
